Redtrack are five well-dressed roustabouts from Southend-On-Sea who make cuttingly precise alternopop tunes which bring to mind the spiky likes of Costello, Difford and Weller quaffing some New Wavey-flavoured ale. They have also been making some smart connections on the underground, not least getting Pete Shelley (The Buzzcocks) to produce them and winning the “Hollyoaks Unsigned Music Show 2010”.
This cannily taut quintet were the first band to ever release an album on Label Fandango in September. That album was called ‘Whole Town’s Heart’ and it was to be preceded by the perfectly fine ‘Perfectly Fine Intellectual’ single in June (as seen on Topman TV), and ‘The Trier’ realeased in August 2010.
The weekend before ‘The Trier’ was released, the band played the ‘show of their careers’ when they headlined the BBC Introducing Stage at Reading & Leeds Festival, before heading off on tour with The Buzzcocks in September. After returning they swiftly started penning their second record.
The band spent October and November ‘On The Road’, and also signed a publishing deal with the very respected Peer Music. 2010 culminated in a sold out Christmas party in their hometown and London. Eager to start 2011 with a bang, they headed off on a mini -tour of Sweden where they sold all 3 dates. Upon return, singer, Billy Wright had been invited to the BBC Introducing Masterclass 2011, hosted by Zane Lowe & Steve Lamacq. 2011 will see the band record and released their eagerly anticipated second record and embark on further UK and European tours.
